The Red Clay Team
John Rousseau is the owner of Red Clay Construction which was founded in 1981.
From the very beginning a love of country life, fire and wood heat drove him to focus energy on chimney construction and repair. He also had an interest in energy-efficient construction. In 1991, John decided to devote the company to that special relationship between masonry and fire. He looked at how people in other cold countries stay warm and began a continuing fascination with masonry heaters, the most efficient way to heat with wood.
John is a self-taught mason, has a BA in History from UNB, a Red Seal Carpentry Certification and was WETT Certified in 1993. John lives in Mount Vernon, Prince Edward Island with Darla Thompson, a retired schoolteacher and his wife of 40 years. John has fun cooking, working in his shop, being outdoors, skiing, gardening and traveling.
Jim Cook has been with the company since 2001. He has spent his life in the construction trade from Prince Edward Island to Alberta. He is immensely capable in whatever he does: masonry, carpentry, mechanics to name a few. His keen eye and good judgement keeps the job running smoothly. Jim lives in Wood Islands with his wife, Ginny.
Mark Hansen began working for the company in 1997. He does it all from heavy lifting to estimating jobs and scheduling the work. His long experience in the field, his wide range of skills and his ability to correctly assess a situation make him a most valuable member of the team. Mark is also a WETT Certified Chimney Sweep and a WETT Certified Pellet Installer. Mark lives in Belle River with his wife, Marcia.
Curtis Wilson began working for Red Clay Construction in 2008. His past experience was in mechanics and landscaping. Curtis is now an excellent bricklaying and stone mason. He is a WETT Certified Technician. In his spare time he works on the family blueberry farm. Curtis lives in Caledonia with his wife, Leanne MacKenzie.
Ryan MacPhee began working with Red Clay Construction in 2011. Ryan spent many years as a contractor in the oil fields of Alberta. Ryan is developing into an excellent bricklayer. He lives in Montague with daughter Abby and son Jensen.
Phillip Hebert joined our team in 2013. Phil spent many years at the Georgetown Timber Mill and then more years in Alberta where he worked his way up to a supervisor level in the oil fields. Phil is a very hard worker with a good eye to running the job well. Phil is currently a WETT student. He lives in Georgetown with his wife, Charlene, and sons Harper and Marcus.
Calloway M’Cloud began working with us in 2016. She has a BA. She previously worked as herdsman on a dairy farm while homeschooling her three children, Willow, Merlin & Elowyn.
